Happy 75th birthday Dad

Happy Birthday Dad you would have been 75 years old on April 18th. My Dad lived until the age of 35 when he passed away Christmas of 1968 of cancer. My Dad had a full life albeit a short one he was deputy clerk treasurer of Sprucedale Ontario he ran a Becker's Milk store and was a cab driver. My memories of him was a man who could sing yodel and drive a car with his knees. The last house we had was on 32A Ashdale in the Queen Street and Coxwell Ave. area of Toronto, I was six years old at the time. The last time I saw my Dad was when I woke up in the middle of the night and went to see my Dad in his hospital bed at home. I said to him if he needed anything and he said can you clean my bed pan for me and I did. Later we spoke and he said to me which I still remember to this day. Bobby you will have to be the new man of the house soon and help look after mom and after that things began to become foggy. Later a few days after that my Dad was gone. I ask my Mom as to where Dad was her reply was he's in heaven now nothing more nothing less. As a child I thought heaven was a place to go and I decided that I wanted to go there to see my Dad. The next day I got on a street car paid my fare and asked the driver I wanted to go to Heaven to see my Dad, his reply was sorry son the street car does not go there and he explained what Heaven was and how people go there the thing my Mom at the time did not explain. For the longest time, I thought it was a dream that my Dad was gone and that he would walk back into our lives as if nothing happened. Today I still miss you Dad and wish you were here in physical form to share in my achievements in life, but I know you are with me in spirit. Thank you Dad for helping create me and sharing your love which I still carry within me that gives me strength to carry on. Happy 75th Birthday Dad I Love you.
